An exciting opportunity to work for a higher education facility in the Coventry area as an Electrical Technician!
Reporting to the Maintenance Manger, the post holder will contribute to the successful delivery of the Estates Strategy supporting the optimization of current and emerging estate and delivering varied spaces to meet operational requirements. The role provides maintenance provision on a range of complex electrical systems with a focus on providing a fully compliant, high quality and value for money service tailored to the needs of the customers with agreed service standards and key performance indicators.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responding to reactive maintenance requests on critical systems. Carrying out planned maintenance on critical life safety systems. Design, installation and certification of new projects. Building management system responsible for the maintenance of effective use of BMS.
• Fault finding and diagnostic work on electrical systems.
• Ensures that all work undertaken is carried out to the electrical wiring regulations and that all appropriate safety legislation is observed, and any potentially unsafe working methods, installations or equipment reported.
• Deliver electrical projects on schedule and to budget ensuring all work conforms to legislative requirements and to facility standards.
• Maintenance of Smart lighting systems which include P4, Delmatic, CP Electronics, Thorlux and Helvar.
• Maintenance of BMS equipment, including Trace Heating, SQS valves, actuators, pump and fan inverters, Siemens Controllers, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning Commercial systems.
• Participates in routine maintenance of safety systems such as: Fire alarms, Lift alarms and Disabled toilet alarms.
• When necessary, working with outside building contractors and other specialist contractors.
• Reporting concerns to relevant management or taking appropriate action to help to provide a proactive and customer focused maintenance service.
• Participate in the emergency call out scheme.
Qualifications/Experience
• GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.
• Completed Electrical apprentice training.
• C&G 2357 in Electrical installation or maintenance (C&G 2391 Electrical Testing would be advantageous)
• Significant experience of commercial or industrial electrical work, including testing and fault finding, on single and 3 phase electrical systems.
• Knowledge of current legislation and practices.
• Ability to read and understand electrical drawings.
• Awareness of safety legislation to ensure it is observed and the postholder can report any potentially unsafe working methods, installation or equipment.
• Ability to prioritize workload and to work as a member of a team or on your own initiative.
• Ability to participate in an evening/weekend emergency callout rota.
